Joshua
I’ve been fascinated with Joshua lately (we’re going to do a series based on that book of the OT this Fall).
- Joshua went from Moses’ aide to the leader of God’s chosen people >>> We must always be ready for the opportunities God gives!!
- Joshua experienced doubt & fear (God told him to be strong & courageous several times) >>> Courage is not the absence of fear … it is doing what is right in light of our fears.
- Joshua was radically obedient (Notice how many times it says, “So Joshua …” after God spoke to him) >>> Boldness comes through obedience.
- Joshua was radical about putting God first (After crossing the Jordan, he had all the males renew the covenant of circumcision … despite being in enemy territory — what terrible timing!!) >>> Everything takes a back seat to our relationship with God.
Questions that challenge me:
- When is the last time I have done something courageous for God?
- When is the last time I have acted on a promise from God?
- Am I waiting on God to move or is He waiting on me to get moving?
