Seven Deadly Sins of a Pastor (Part Two)
In this follow-up to part one (you can check it out here), here are a few things God has impressed on my heart:
1) This church does not need me. This church needs Jesus (period) … and less of me. (John 3:30). No, I am NOT resigning (or anything remotely close), but I am resigning myself more to Jesus.
2) My first love is Jesus. I cannot say it better than Charles Stanley: “In order to experience intimacy with the Father, you must genuinely regard Him as more important than everything else you pursue in life.”
3) Pray is the main work. Can’t be too busy or have too much “to do” … prayer is what I have to do!
4) We cannot let up! There is SO much at stake and God has staked it on us. E.M. Bounds said that “The Gospel of Christ does not move by popular waves … it moves as the people who have charge of it move!” We, the church, have charge of the Gospel!! We are part of a movement so powerful that it rewrites eternal addresses and yet so fragile that it depends on our willingness to move out! I’m praying this prayer for NW Georgia and the world … Rock Bridge, get as many people here as you can on August 26th!
5) With God all things are possible!  Living like this ensures a life of purpose (we’ll attempt and do great things of kingdom significance!) and a life of complete peace (if this statement is true, what do we really have to worry about?).
